How Cumbria Media Walls collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use this website or get in touch.
How Cumbria Media Walls collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use this website or get in touch.
Cumbria Media Walls is a sole trader business providing bespoke media wall design and installation services across Cumbria and the Lake District. For the purposes of data protection law, Cumbria Media Walls is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy, or about how your information is handled, call or text us on 07484 306 171 or email hello@cumbriamediawalls.com.
We only collect information you choose to give us. Through the enquiry form on this website that is: your name, your phone number, your postcode, which design you are interested in, your rough timeline, and any details you add yourself.
If you contact us by phone, text or email instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that conversation.
If you send us photographs of your room, we hold those too. How photographs are used is explained in section 6.
For work we go on to carry out, we also hold your address and access arrangements, and our own notes, measurements and drawings for the job.
We do not collect payment details through this website. No payments or bookings are taken online.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing.
The enquiry form on this site does not send data to a server of ours. When you press send, it opens your own phone's messaging app with the message already written out, and nothing is transmitted until you press send inside that app. Until you do, the information stays on your device.
That message then travels over your own mobile network in the ordinary way, and we receive it as a text message on the business phone.
You can also simply call us, email us, or message us on WhatsApp. Enquiries are handled by phone, text message, WhatsApp and email.
If you contact us through WhatsApp, that conversation is also subject to the privacy policy of Meta, which owns and operates WhatsApp, because Meta processes messages sent through it as part of delivering that service to you. WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted in transit, but Meta still handles associated information such as your phone number.
Some parts of a media wall installation call for a specialist — certified electrical work in particular. Where that applies, we share only what that partner needs to do their part of the job, such as your address and the access arrangements. They are not permitted to use your information for anything else.
We sometimes use third-party AI image tools to help generate design inspiration and to produce a personalised visual of how a media wall could look in your room.
Where you send us photographs of your room, those images may be processed through third-party AI tools in order to produce your visual. If you would prefer we did not, tell us and we will work from measurements and sketches instead — it will not affect your quote.
We send only the image itself and a description of the design you are after. We do not upload your name, phone number, address or any other contact details to these tools.
These tools are run by third-party providers who may store or process images on servers outside the UK. See section 10.
AI-generated visuals are design inspiration only. They are not technical drawings and are not a guaranteed representation of the finished wall. Materials, proportions, lighting and finish in the final build can differ from the visual. The agreed design and your written quotation are what govern the work, not the image. This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and does not set any non-essential cookies at all.
Nothing about your visit is recorded or sent anywhere by this website for analytics purposes. If that ever changes we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That means your browser requests those font files from Google's servers, and your IP address is visible to Google as part of that request. This happens on every page and is needed for the site to display as designed. Google's own privacy policy covers what they do with it.
Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept only as long as they are useful, and are then deleted. That includes any photographs you sent us.
Records relating to completed work — including designs, photographs and invoices — are kept for as long as we are required to keep them, for tax and liability purposes.
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe. The enquiry form sends nothing to a server of ours, so there is no customer database on this website to be breached.
The information we do hold — text messages, emails, photographs and job notes — sits on password-protected and device-locked phones, computers and accounts, and is only accessible to us and, where a job requires it, to the trade partner carrying out that part of the work.
No method of storing or transmitting information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will tell you without delay if something happens to your information that is likely to affect you.
Some of the third-party tools this business relies on are operated by companies based outside the UK, which means your information may be stored or processed outside the UK.
Where information is transferred outside the UK we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum. If you would rather your photographs were not processed this way, tell us and we will work from measurements and sketches instead.
This website and our services are aimed at homeowners, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, or object to how we are using it. You can also ask us to stop putting your photographs through AI tools at any time.
Call or text us on 07484 306 171, or email hello@cumbriamediawalls.com, and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
