Whitehaven's Georgian core is one of the most complete in the country, and a good share of the town centre sits inside a conservation area. That has almost no bearing on a media wall — this is internal, non-structural work — but it does shape how we approach the design. In a period room with original cornice, deep skirting and a proper proportion to it, a wall that ignores all that reads as an intrusion.
So in those houses we design the wall to sit within the room's own logic: heights set off the existing features, the finish chosen to sit alongside the joinery rather than fight it. Out in Hensingham, Cleator Moor and the newer estates, the constraint disappears and the design opens right up.
We install across Whitehaven and the areas around it. If you are nearby but do not see your town listed, get in touch — we very likely cover it.
We Also Cover
Yes — Whitehaven and Hensingham, plus Cleator Moor, Egremont, Frizington, Distington, Moresby and St Bees.
A media wall is internal, non-structural work, so in most cases it is not affected. The exception is a listed building, where internal alterations can require listed building consent even when they look purely cosmetic. That is a matter for Cumberland Council, not for us to rule on — but we will design the build to be reversible and to leave original features intact, which makes any conversation with them a great deal easier. Always check before committing.
Yes. Electric fires are the usual choice and need a spur running to them. Bioethanol units need no power and no flue, which makes them useful in a room with no easy route for a cable. Both can be built in as part of the wall rather than sat in front of it.
It depends on the scope, and particularly on how much electrical work is involved and whether plastering needs to dry before finishing. You will get a realistic day count at the quote stage, not an optimistic one.
