Media Walls in Penrith

Across Penrith and the Eden Valley — Eamont Bridge, Langwathby, Shap, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Kirkby Stephen and out to Alston — we design and install bespoke media walls with electrics, plastering and finishing managed for you.

Built For
The Eden Valley

The Eden Valley has a housing type you do not meet much elsewhere in the county: red sandstone farmhouses and barn conversions, with very deep window reveals, exposed beams, and rooms whose walls were never intended to be flat. Add the double-height space you often get in a conversion and the usual media wall proportions stop working — a wall sized for a standard eight-foot ceiling looks lost under a vaulted one.

In those rooms the wall is scaled up and set out against the beam line rather than the floor, so it reads as part of the structure. In the newer housing around Penrith itself it is a much more conventional build, and priced accordingly.

Yes, and they are some of the most rewarding rooms to work in. The things to design around are the ones that make the room worth having: exposed beams, deep reveals, vaulted ceilings and walls that are nowhere near plumb. The wall gets scaled and set out to those features rather than to a standard ceiling height, and the frame is built independently so the finished face is true even when the wall behind it is not.

Micro-cement, venetian plaster, fluted and slatted timber, painted MDF, oak and stone-effect. In a stone or sandstone room the usual instinct is to go warmer and more textured so the wall belongs; we will bring samples and you will see them in your own light, which changes opinions more often than not.

It depends on the size of the wall, the finish, whether a fire is built in and how much levelling the room needs — a double-height barn wall is a bigger job than a standard living room. Free consultation and quote, no obligation.
